Just wondered what options there are for providing power to a peninsula in a kitchen. I've seen pop up banks of sockets but they seem to need a lot of cupboard space below - does anyone know any other approaches?

Just wondered whether there are any regulations as to what types of lights are allowed in kitchens. For example is there any reason not to have pendant lights? I have downlighters at the moment and the light is quite poor and patchy.
