Hi all I know it seems obvious that storage heaters are power hungry but hear me out. I bought a house in France with electric panel heaters a few years ago and after using modern storage heaters in Cornwall for many years I decided to swap these panel heaters for cheap 2nd hand modern storage...

The issue was on the input not the cables out to socket. The inputs were cable linked rather than a busbar so have replaced mcbs and used busbar Probably a poor connection, it does look a bit of a mess, wires all over the place! Hopefully tidied up now.

Could changing a 16A MCB to a 10A be safer to prevent over loading or dangerous if over loaded? We have just had a cable melt at MCB and am thinking it might have been over loaded (holiday let). Im thinking for safety, changing to a 10A to prevent this happening again. To add - the MCB is dual...

3+ years, still good and done the job

I am currently insulating and boarding between beams, the boards are 500mm wide x 2500mm resting on 14mm wide x21mm battens. This morning I woke up with my mind telling me they'll sag and fall out ! Plasterboards are 13mm Can anyone put my mind at ease :)

opening an old thread but may be of use. I have storage heaters and quite happy with them, older ones need to be closed until you manually open the output but can be quite poor at retaining heat. If they are connected to the night switchover unit a smart option is pointless as they should only...
