Have also heard about laying a bell wire between the garage and house to assist amplifying the remote signal
Changed batteries and now installing the bell wire..also attaching a steel coat hanger at each end to help with the reception
Will report the results later

Have just relocated the boiler from inside the house to the outside garage so as to make room in the kitchen
The wall between is new brickwork with cavity insulation ( foil backed )
The remote thermostat no longer works for the heating / the hot water is fine. but it seems to loose its way...
