Hi, I was wondering if anyone can help i currently have a Potterton EP2002 which the screen has almost gone on, a friend says he has a old EP4001 would i be able to replace the 2002 with 4001 does anyone have any tips, there doesn't seem to be much help on Potterton's website.

One registered part P electrician i got to quote has quoted on 6mm2 armour and mentions nothing about actually earthing it. i assume he was going to just earth it to the houses supply. and a second quote mentions 10mm2 and like wise no earthing rod's so this is what makes me think i'd be better...
yep i do know about part P. Am also looking to actually become a qualified electrician but already running an IT company its finding time to actually qualify. Thanks for all your help.
Just when you think your getting somewhere, so i really need to find someone to put in the earthing rod. or just put it into the ground till it hits australlia?
And of which i am extreamly thankful :) just one more question to i think set me up and ready to go how deep should i put the earth rod in the ground?

Earthing is something i'm not to sure about any tips on how i can find out the kind of earthing system? I know it is just earthed throw the suppliers cable that runs into the property. As for the summer house there is nothing except a stud wall no earth rod :( and the house has a standered...
just a thought the armoured cable i use the armouring as the earth should i attach the armouring(earth) to both the CU's house and summerhouse?

3core 55>60meter armoured cable so i can earth it to the house's earth
32a MCB in the house (in the non RCD protected side?)
5 way board with:-
- 6 amp MCB for lighting
- 16 amp MCB for heater FCU

55-60meters away from the consumer unit
the power will have to be 2 computers, TV and hifi (i'm thinking 6 double sockets)
2 x five-foot twin Cat 2 fluorescent's
1 x 2.5 or 3kw heater...
