The engineer visted yesterday and removed the TRV from the rad in the hall which is where the wall stat is located. He also installed a Honeywell auto bypass valve.
So far so good.

Question though, where would the auto bypass be fitted? and is it an expensive job?
Hi, we changed the entire thing body and valve.
The boiler is a Potterton Performa 30 HE and I have checked the TRV's and they have 2 arrows on them so I assume that means they are bi-directional.
To stop the pipes rattling I have to adjust the TRV to max, so no, it doesn't rattle when they are fully open. The vibrating kicks in as the TRV's are closing off.
hmmm, very confused... he said that the pump was not as powerful on my old boiler (15.50) My old boiler was about 15 years old.
It's frustrating as he doesn't really have an explanation for it other than the pump being too powerful. Very irritating seeing as I just had the boiler installed...
