New rad - vented every 2 days .....

Also, I don't know if it makes a difference: but the vent and plug at the top of the ladder rad, are held in by black washers built into them/attached to them, and I noticed today that when venting ia the needle, the vent screw moved a bit, so it wasn't fully tightened in. Maybe some air was...

New rad - vented every 2 days .....

Hi I installed a white towel ladder radiator just over 2 weeks ago. I drained my open vented system, adjusted the flow and return pipes to meet up with the new rad's valves, re-filled using sentinel and everything is fine, no leaks, rad's get hot, etc. The only 2 little things I have...

wiring up a programmable room stat to override programmer?

well the new one is sunvic and the old one was honeywell. the thing is, surely i can just swap the common and require heat (demand) wires overand mayeb remove the neutral? i am not sure about how to wire it up to override the prgrammer, to bring on heating when the room stat wants it and...

wiring up a programmable room stat to override programmer?

Ok bit of a quick question: Bought a programmable room stat to replace a normal type one. My old one has 3 wires and the new one only requires 2 (the neutral is not required). It is battery powered also. How do I wire it up to override the programmer? Is there a plan for this like the S...

new room stat to be fitted ... 2 wire/3 wire

what exactly the aticipator for? how does the neutral wire do this/make it work?!

new room stat to be fitted ... 2 wire/3 wire

hmm interesting.. from the ones i have seen (mechanical room stats) and from the y plan wiring diagrams the NEUTRAL terminal goes to the stat and there are two other terminals that make or break - one of these is linked to the programmer HTG terminal - so (3 wires in total).

new room stat to be fitted ... 2 wire/3 wire

so D_Hailsham: you are saying most if not all modern digi stats only have 2 wires and no neutral wire? i apologise by 3 wires usually found in the stat it is usually: Common wire (Neutral) and the other two close to make (demand).

    Another 'Pumping Over' question......

obviously you're f & e vent pipe doesn't have enough "dry head" : should be 450mm minimum above the water level to cater for pressure surges created by the pump. also there should be a minimum of pump head (usually 5M0 divided by 3, so just over 1.5metres from your circulating pump to your...

new room stat to be fitted ... 2 wire/3 wire

Hi Most room stats have 3 wires, some do have a neutral wire also though. if your room stat has 3 wires then they will usually be C (common) demand and sat you can only replace a room stat that requires a NEUTRAL wire (so usually 4 wires) with another room stat that also accepts a...

Immersion Heater & Thermostat workings and diagnosis!!

ok so voltage is Ok to test for thermostat but for element (heater) resistance is needed ... 18 ohms is fine but less or more means its failed?

Immersion Heater & Thermostat workings and diagnosis!!

ok i will do. still don't know what the difference is though ! i mean if there is nothing then it's dead, what's the point of doing a resistance check as well ... ?

Immersion Heater & Thermostat workings and diagnosis!!

there was no voltage for some reason between T and N.. so i guess the heater element has packed up for some reason! why would this be? :( the thermostat would be the thing to go if anything i would have thought?! i didn't do a resistance test, just a voltage test. what difference would a...

Immersion Heater & Thermostat workings and diagnosis!!

Seco i don't get any voltage from T to N. Is this a faulty heater element? well it must be really i guess if the thermostat is ok. Should i replace the whole heater ?

Immersion Heater & Thermostat workings and diagnosis!!

yes there is power at T when stat calling and when i turn it down (right down) it cuts out. this is correct i believe? so to make 100& sure what do i test to see if the immersion heater element is def. faulty? the N?? sorry if i'm sounding hard work! it's been a stressful day!
