Need to replace outdoor tap but it will not budge

Yeh you're right. Funnily enough I did try there first however I wasn't able to get a good enough grip, but then again I was using my water pump pliers. Note to self for next time - Use an adjustable spanner on the tap body!

Need to replace outdoor tap but it will not budge

I take it my earlier comment back. I just tried an adjustable wrench and it worked! Having the additional leverage definitely helped. Thanks again, a simple case of using the wrong tools for the job

Need to replace outdoor tap but it will not budge

I don't have the long tube you describe. You say to get a spanner but I have been using a wrench to no effect. I'm guessing the wrench would give me better grip than a spanner? The mole/locking grips in the pic were there to hold and support the pipework in place while I attempt to remove the tap

Need to replace outdoor tap but it will not budge

Hi all I've got a very old tap that I want to replace but it will not budge. I have tried with water pump pliers, locking pliers, even squirted some WD-40 on the nut but no lock. I've attached some pictures below. You can see in the second pic where part of the tap surface has been...

Thanks however I am fine with scribing. My question is how to do the supporting framework before fitting the infill panel

    Advice on framing around wardrobes

I have put together some IKEA wardrobes and would like to box them in to create a built-in look. I plan to use MDF around the cupboards which will then be painted to match the doors, however I am unsure of the best way to create the framing structure around the wardrobes which I will fix the...

Boiler pipe leaking, should I be concerned?

Yes I have thought about getting another engineer to have a look. Would you advise it needs to be an Ariston specialist or just any gas safe engineer? I paid £70. It was a service. He did take it apart, clean it out. I was with him most of the time and he showed me a lot of the gunk that was in...

Boiler pipe leaking, should I be concerned?

Thanks. I do feel like he's full of sh*t. It's almost 3 weeks since he did the service. After chasing him for an explanation, he wouldn't call me as he was "too busy" so I had to go through his secretary. The first time she came back and told me that he said I need to replace the boiler as it's...

Boiler pipe leaking, should I be concerned?

The gas engineer has finally come back to me with an explanation, (well not even the engineer but his secretary ). He has said that the leak is coming from the heat exchanger and it's not something he would repair as he is not familiar with Ariston boilers. Does that make any sense to...

Boiler pipe leaking, should I be concerned?

Ok as promised last week, here is an update on the boiler pressure... As you can see from post #13, the pressure is still the same, it has even gone up slightly. (One thing I have noticed during monitoring the pressure the past few days is that the needle does drop a bit but always returns...

Boiler pipe leaking, should I be concerned?

I did that when I first saw the leak and it is definitely coming from inside the pipe, not externally

Boiler pipe leaking, should I be concerned?

Have you seen the pics at the start of this post? The pipe that leaks goes to just above the floor and stops, hence the leak on the floor. No there is no outlet like that
