Capping off waste pipe connectors to soil pipe

This did the trick! I didn't trim the washers down, but it would have made it a lot easier. I first put the washers in the existing nuts, applied some silicone spray to the socket plugs and wrestled them into the nuts. Then I adjusted the rubber washers a bit with a flat screwdriver where I...

Capping off waste pipe connectors to soil pipe

I think it's worth mentioning that this is on the first and top floor of the house, so leaks or pressure aren't I concern I'd think. Unless the soil pipe gets blocked further down, but then leaks in that particular spot are the least of my concerns. Any idea where or how I might be able to get...

Capping off waste pipe connectors to soil pipe

Small update: I looked up a conversion table and a some explanation with silly historical excuses why this is so complicated and it occurred to be that I still had a bathroom sink waste, which is supposed to be 1-1/4 Inch BSP. And the coupling nut at the top is a match! So I assume something...

Capping off waste pipe connectors to soil pipe

Good afternoon everyone, I'm finishing up some DIY work in our bathroom and two waste pipe connectors to the cast iron soil pipe are not going to be used anymore so I need to close them off. As flush with the pipe as possible, since I'll need to box around it. I'm unfamiliar with the correct...

I converted my consumer unit to all RCBO, how did I do?

If you're referring to the "In between" photo, you're right. But that's an old photo which was already discussed in another thread linked.

I converted my consumer unit to all RCBO, how did I do?

Completely missed the email update about your reply! I think a regular type of constructive will do, i.e. specific actionable suggestions aimed at improving a situation (taking constraints into account), while still being respectful and supportive. It did fit before, but wasn't held in place...

I converted my consumer unit to all RCBO, how did I do?

Did you end up having a new CU fitted then? How much did it cost?

I converted my consumer unit to all RCBO, how did I do?

Couple of reasons, some better than others: - No more space left in the unit while there are plans to add a circuit for an induction hob and eventually a car charger. Switching all MCBs out for RCBOs would give me an additional 2 spots since I'd be able to remove the RCCB. Ended up getting 3...

I converted my consumer unit to all RCBO, how did I do?

Hey there! A few weeks ago I posted on this forum asking for advice on converting my existing split-load Hager consumer unit to an all RCBO consumer unit. Huge shoutout to the folks who provided some helpful feedback and shared their wisdom on competencies and qualifications. Your input was...

New busbar for split-load consumer unit converted to all RCBO

Yes I am, now I also know which bits of paper you're referring to. Our surveyor informed us that the house we bought didn't have them. No wonder that there were multiple pretty sketchy things like live sockets on knockout boxes that looked like a truck had driven over them. Also...

New busbar for split-load consumer unit converted to all RCBO

I have learned a bunch of things from the responses to this forum post. An explanation for the odd way that the breakers in mu CU are mounted, a bit more insight into the tension between DIY advocates and professionals, how acceptable various methods of mounting a busbar are, and a confirmation...

New busbar for split-load consumer unit converted to all RCBO

Have gone back and forth between Octopus Energy and UK Power Networks already. Octopus Energy informed me that they needed to contact UK Power Networks and that the job would be delegated back to them by UK Power Networks so that they'd have the authority to do it.

New busbar for split-load consumer unit converted to all RCBO

What do you mean with right bits of paper? Does a new CU installation with a certification that is important to keep? Depending on the consequence of fitting a new CU DIY, of course having it installed is an option.

New busbar for split-load consumer unit converted to all RCBO

Which is pretty useless to point out without telling me what's wrong about what I am saying. Additionally, saying that someone is incompetent is of no use to them without clarifying to them what authority you have to arrive at that conclusion. There is no reasoning in your comment, so why...

New busbar for split-load consumer unit converted to all RCBO

@robinbanks goes off topic to encourage staying on topic and learning. You're going off topic to undermine a conversation. Discussing the questioning of compitencies/qualifications after your initial comment didn't help much to answer my original question. But there it was at least not so...
