Can I snip these wires and embed in the wall?

I'm going to take this to an electrician I think - I don't think I've articulated the problem well enough here. Thanks for all the responses!

Can I snip these wires and embed in the wall?

Thank you @Wayners . Can I just triple check though - isn't what you're saying making an assumption that these cables were connected to a circuit rather than just being two completely independent cables? Plating over isn't an option as this is a bedroom and it will necessitate six plates (as...

Can I snip these wires and embed in the wall?

Hi all, We had a light that is powered by a mains plug but that is on a dimmer switch, and where the cables are embedded in the wall. I've never seen anything like this before. We are repainting and I want to get rid of it all. (Apart from the socket of course) I can’t pull the wires out...

    Cutting treated timber indoors

Just to be clear you mean being injured by the power tools? Or are you referring to the dust?

    Cutting treated timber indoors

I guess that there is nasty stuff in the treatment - that’s going to settle on things in the garage, go in my clothes and hair and so on But sounds like it’s no different to any other kind of timber from what you’re suggesting? I would always wear a mask anyway.

    Cutting treated timber indoors

I want to make some garden storage boxes and now the weather is getting a bit crappier it would be easier to do some of this in my garage with my chop saw Is it safe to cut treated timber inside with power tools or best to be avoided? It would be either from Travis Perkins or one of the big...

Gap between paving and gravel board

Oh that’s really interesting - I like the idea that we could then move it around til it was right - I’ll float that idea!

Gap between paving and gravel board

Hi all We’re just installing a new fence We have the posts in and now know where the gravel boards need to sit There is a patio next to the fence but there’s a bit of a gap between the patio and the gravel boards all the way along This gap is currently just soil My partner has suggested...

Getting fence posts into an awkward space

Thanks all - going well so far and have taken note regarding the tools. Fixing to the coal store has worked really well! The roots haven’t been too much of an issue - it’s more our soil is incredibly crumbly and hard. But we’re getting there Appreciate the advice!

Getting fence posts into an awkward space

Hi all Hi all, any ideas on how to approach getting some new fencing up here? It’s my first time with a fence and I’m mainly wondering about how to get the footings for the posts in - I haven’t tried but I’m guessing that digging holes for footings where those tree roots are will be a real...

    Fixings and weighting for shelving

Hi there, oops - yes, I've fixed that link now. They are slightly different to the one you've linked to as they're adjustable, but yes it's that kind of thing. I was pretty keen on using the concealed ones and not having sides, as I'm looking for a floating feel - however it may be the...

    Fixings and weighting for shelving

Hi all, Fairly new to all this so be gentle with me! I've got hold of some nice old scaffolding boards which I'd like to use for shelving. I'm ok with sanding them down and all that, but a few things I'd like to double check on in terms of the fixings. I'm going to use these Triade...
