What to do with messy gravel, between now and when I replace it

Amazing - thanks all for the advice. Can I just check the method? I will make a frame say about 1mx1m with 4mm lattice This will have a drop underneath it and something to collect the soil. I just put a load of gravel on the lattice then spread it out, move it around a bit and then put a...

What to do with messy gravel, between now and when I replace it

Actually I guess you mean some kind of lattice with a frame. Any idea what size of lattice I’d need for pea gravel that’s I guess about 5-10mm?

What to do with messy gravel, between now and when I replace it

I have done some cleaning but it’s a hell of a lot of gravel and just takes so much time. It looks like I can get new stuff for 50 quid or so , so I was going to save myself a job. If I do go down this route - do you mean something like this?

What to do with messy gravel, between now and when I replace it

Hi everyone - a bit new to all this so this might be a basic question. I have an area I’m renovating at the back of our garden - it’s about 8x4m. I’ve built a pergola at one end which looks great. The rest is going to be open with some planters around the side, and a small shed which I’ve now...

Can I snip these wires and embed in the wall?

I'm going to take this to an electrician I think - I don't think I've articulated the problem well enough here. Thanks for all the responses!

Can I snip these wires and embed in the wall?

Thank you @Wayners . Can I just triple check though - isn't what you're saying making an assumption that these cables were connected to a circuit rather than just being two completely independent cables? Plating over isn't an option as this is a bedroom and it will necessitate six plates (as...

Can I snip these wires and embed in the wall?

Hi all, We had a light that is powered by a mains plug but that is on a dimmer switch, and where the cables are embedded in the wall. I've never seen anything like this before. We are repainting and I want to get rid of it all. (Apart from the socket of course) I can’t pull the wires out...

    Cutting treated timber indoors

Just to be clear you mean being injured by the power tools? Or are you referring to the dust?

    Cutting treated timber indoors

I guess that there is nasty stuff in the treatment - that’s going to settle on things in the garage, go in my clothes and hair and so on But sounds like it’s no different to any other kind of timber from what you’re suggesting? I would always wear a mask anyway.

    Cutting treated timber indoors

I want to make some garden storage boxes and now the weather is getting a bit crappier it would be easier to do some of this in my garage with my chop saw Is it safe to cut treated timber inside with power tools or best to be avoided? It would be either from Travis Perkins or one of the big...

Gap between paving and gravel board

Oh that’s really interesting - I like the idea that we could then move it around til it was right - I’ll float that idea!

Gap between paving and gravel board

Hi all We’re just installing a new fence We have the posts in and now know where the gravel boards need to sit There is a patio next to the fence but there’s a bit of a gap between the patio and the gravel boards all the way along This gap is currently just soil My partner has suggested...

Getting fence posts into an awkward space

Thanks all - going well so far and have taken note regarding the tools. Fixing to the coal store has worked really well! The roots haven’t been too much of an issue - it’s more our soil is incredibly crumbly and hard. But we’re getting there Appreciate the advice!
