Potterton Profile Boiler - Temp Sensor Kicking In??

Drained system, took out pump, top valve was closed, bottom was only half open. Replaced both anyway, re-used same pump and system is all ok now. Thanks again

Potterton Profile Boiler - Temp Sensor Kicking In??

Looks like I'm going to have to drain it down again then :-( As it is the one on top i.e the one that is supposed to be letting water into the pump, could I have damaged the pump by running it dry? Thank you all for your input and help. Much appreciated.

Potterton Profile Boiler - Temp Sensor Kicking In??

well, upon checking the pump valves, one of them (the top one) is actually spinning freely (its a gate valve type one). Could this be a (THE) problem...?

Potterton Profile Boiler - Temp Sensor Kicking In??

By putting the valve to HW only do you mean slide the lever to manual? Yes there is a llink pipe between the flow and return in the airing cupboard - it has a gate valve (I think that's what it is - but without the red handle)

Thanks Chris There is indeed a vent point near the cylinder - this was the first thing I tried, it seemed to let a lot of air out. Now it is only letting water out...

Potterton Profile Boiler - Temp Sensor Kicking In??

Been reading a few of the posts in here and I think my problem is either my central heating pump (WILO GOLD) or my 3 way valve thingy (Danfoss). I drained the system, cleaned and re-filled because a couple of rads were not working. I have bled air from everywhere I can see, yet the boiler...
