    Leak through chimney

So the foam went underneath the lead flashing above? I think this would be my very last resort as roof is still under guarantee.

Where did you put the foam?

    Leak through chimney

Had the roof re-done last Jan including chimney flashing. When it is stormy and there is wind driven rain against the chimney, water is finding it's way behind the flashing and down into the loft space. I have had the roofers back after the last storm earlier in the year and they put sealant on...

    Chimney back gutter issue

I had our roof re-done last Jan and no issues or leaks since. However, neighbour had work done on her house this week and the roofer found the state our roofers had left the chimney back gutter in on our shared chimney stack. My roofers told me at the time that they would be installing a single...

    Cellar ventilation

This is where the extractor is in the corner with the ducting going outside and then the other side is the air brick and open staircase to the ground floor. I used to run a dehumidifier and air purifier nearly all the time so hopefully this extractor will stop the need for this!

    Cellar ventilation

Sorry, should have said It's less about purifying the air and more about keeping the air circulating around the cellar as just a bit concerned that the extractor fan won't be able to disrupt the air enough unless this is nonsense?

Cellar Inline extractor on 3a plug

What happens if it is cold humid air as the converted cellar doesn't currently have heating but cellar kinda sits at around 16 degrees all year round?

Cellar Inline extractor on 3a plug

Also, if I get an extractor in the cellar am I better placing the ducting high or low in the room?

Cellar Inline extractor on 3a plug

Thank you all for you comprehensive replies. The reason behind putting it on a plug as my main aim was to eventually put the extractor on a plug timer and only have it switch on 6 - 9 hours throughout the day to circulate the air and get rid of the dehumidifier down there that I constantly need...

    Cellar ventilation

I have just installed an extractor fan into a converted cellar on one wall and have an air brick and doorway on the otherside so will pull through air, hopefully. Would I still be able to run an air purifier in the middle of the room or would this disrupt the cross ventilation across the room by...

Cellar Inline extractor on 3a plug

Many thanks. I'm going to purchase the extractor fan and ducting and then get an electrician booked now I know it's all workable.

Cellar Inline extractor on 3a plug

I am looking to put a inline extractor, https://www.screwfix.com/p/manrose-mf100-100mm-mixed-flow-fan/26867 into a cellar to try and increase ventilation. I want it to be constantly on rather than switched on with the lights and don't really want it on a humidistat senser etc. As it is a...

    Flooring for converted cellar advice?

Have been in a house 3 years and previous owners have converted the 100 year old cellar into an office in 2020. They have laid sheet DPM down, underlay and then carpet over the top. However, the DPM does not go up to the walls and there is a few inch gap all the way round where the installers...

    Cellar ventilation advice

I have a converted cellar and have been using an air purifier for air movement and a dehumidifier for 4hrs a day to keep it dry. Have had a few issues with moisture and mold along the carpet line but nothing substantial over the 3 years we have lived in the house. I am trying ways to stop using...

    Wall filler or plaster required?

I have recently taken off a skirting board and taken a big chunk of plaster off with the board. The hole isn't square but it's around 30cm long, 10cm high and ranges from 5mm - 12mm deep. Am I better off using a big gap filler like Toupret TX110...
