The Gas/Plumber came this morning and serviced the boiler. He cleaned out the heat exchanger. (I was expecting that to mean the water side for some reason but this work involved hoovering out the combustion/air side). He did all the other checks and said the boiler was fine and needing no...
Guess this is just more of what I was no about, higher up, how the people on this particular string are pretty unhelpful and obtuse. And I guess 69 refers to your inverted approach on another subject, yes?
I just hope the plumber who comes to do my service next week is nothing like you, 69...
Hi, Tony.
... and I have not had the boiler annually serviced. I would guess it has been a good 5years since an engineer had his hands on it. Not good.
Out of interest, if one of these boilers were suffering with gas pressure too high/too low and/or some build-up of dirt (maybe...
In case there's any interest, I spoke with a plumbing contractor and they also think that the symptoms described sound like the gas pressures need checking and a good clean out, and they will be along next week to do a full service. The conversation was nice any easy.
Well, thanks, Tibbot.
That is helpful info.
I want to avoid the brainwashing from distributors and manufacturers and talk to the ones that really know..... you.
Hi, Tony.
Well, in my experience, a car mechanic would be able to tell me which ones break down and have higfh repair costs, and which ones do not.
A plumber, who has to repair/service many boilers... similarly.
I saw on another threat that someone was suggesting that Ideal boilers (not...
"who thinks this trade is so worthless that anything we fix is probably no more than flicking a switch or turning a screw, which any idiot could do for nothing."
There you go again..... who said all that? Not me. It seems to be rolling around inside your own head.
"Hello.... Earth to...
Thanks to Terry and Tony.
For some others on this thread, it has been a real trial, ducking your punches and persisting through the nastiness. Why are you posting here if it is just to make nothing of people or push them off the forum? {If you have a bad day, change something in your...
Hi, Tony.
Thanks for that.
One more scenario, please, if you would:
c) Say it was the fan, hurting on its bearings.
How much would it cost for a replacement fan, please?
Okay, let me try another angle, here.
Say it was:
a) the 3/4-way water valve that switches it from heating to DHW. How much does one of them cost, roughly, and how long/cost to replace. If you do not have an idea of part cost I can call the Baisi people. (And don't worry about regional...
Hi, Terry,
Thanks for the Intergas and Vaillant suggestions.
"Surely the whole point of calling an engineer is so that he can diagnose your fault for you?"
a) No. If I can get some indication of costs and weigh that against a new one, maybe I don't spend out any cash calling a plumber...
