My dishwasher is not heating up the water, I noticed that there is a thermostat and heating element potentially at fault. Does anyone know how I would be able to diagnose the fault and determine which part I will need to replace?

Oh, just 1 other thing, apart from the punch-down tool is there anything else that would be handy for a job like this?
