The ignition flame shows, it goes up a couple of degrees, then cuts out and temp drops a few degrees, it goes on like this until i turn the boiler off

hi, I have a Valliant ecomax boiler, was fitted a few yars ago. When I put heating on, sometimes the boiler keeps igniting, turning off, re-igniting. When this happens the heaters can't get hot, they dont have a chance! It doesnt do it every time, so when i have called an engineer, it works ok...
