But I don't think the board adhesive will work on the shiny surface and it's over the old plaster, so not screwing it into stud.

Bit of a niche question. I'm getting some Gyproc duplex vapour control board, with the foil backing. Does anyone know if the foil can be peeled off, leaving regular board. I'll have some left over, and need normal board around a window, would save some £ if I can peel and use it. Thanks
