    Ah yes, thank you, was wondering about what to do with the window sill. I asked the kitchen fitter if I could buy a wooden windowsill but he didn't know.

    Well done you it is lovely thanks for explaining. I think they sell oil where I bought the worktop so assume I just need that but probably apply it to the whole worktop?

    Brilliant idea, in will try that. Think the only way I will resolve this is if I try myself, lacking a bit of confidence but with all the great advice everyone is giving me hopefully I will manage. Thanks so much for taking the time to help!

    Good idea I could try that first. No not got a sander , is a block of wood and sand paper ok or do I need sander? Yes could protect with a couple of layers of masking tape even.

    Hi, yes I do and I can clearly see the top layer. It looks about 3mm. I'm worried if I try sanding I will make a mess of it...

    Thanks for explaining I really appreciate it. I'm tempted to give up on trying to get anyone else to fix it I'd you think they should be watertight. I will get used to it and it wont bother me eventually. I might try sanding down but I wouldn't want to do more damage. Such a shame was supposed...

    Thank you, that's reasauring, just not sure if worktops will be replaced or not. I was wondering if a total novice could do it with a bit of research and effort? I'm a bit reluctant to get anybody in with the way things have gone so far.
