Thanks for the reply. Here's a close up of what I thought might be a crack - I was going to go and take a better look at it, didn't notice when I was taking the photo. Is there a way to tell oxidisation and dezincification apart? Anything I can look for?

I did already try using duct tape to seal around the windows. The noise persisted, and I've also heard the noise from outside, so I'm not sure this will help. I will try it again, though, in case I didn't seal things very well last time. Just thinking as I was typing the above - when I've heard...

The sound is a high pitched squeak, rather than a lower drone like I would expect if it was that pipe, but it's worth a shot, thanks! I'll try partially capping the bottom of the pipe to see if that does anything.
