Well turned out to be thermocouple which had literally exploded apparently. He said they usually come out in one but ours was in bits. Anyway, job done, not too pricey and my little cherub can have her bath tonight.

I like that answer, hope you're right. Surprised something like that wasn't picked up when it was serviced though. Thanks.

The boiler was serviced on the 10th and seems to have been working fine until I noticed today that the pilot had gone out. I relit it and it went out again half hour or so later. It did this a third time and although the pilot light seems to be staying on now, it's not firing up properly so...
