its if its too far in the bolt wont go in. because its got a delve on the ball joint end. get the car up on jack stands and have a prod n pull about... check driveshafts ... anti rollbar ... droplinks ... check rear also... might be a completely different problem.

is it hydraulic or cable btw. if hydraulic check the fluid level, could explain the engagement issues.
