Thanks for the replies - it is still under warranty thankfully :) Anyway took it to Ford garage over the weekend, they said nothing was wrong. Talking to a few other people it looks like its a 'quirk' of Ford diesel engines :oops:

Hi all, Car noob here I'm afraid... Just bought an 06 Focus 1.8 diesel and I've noticed when I turn the ignition off, the engine carries on going for about a second, during which the engine car shakes a bit... is this normal for diesels?! cheers, MGB
