Polycarbonate roof moving and creaking when door is openend and closed

It's already siliconed. I think the force of air can be that great it's lifting it. I could put a thicker bead of silicone. See if that does that trick. It will allow some movement as well as silicone stretches. The tape is a good idea. It may hold it enough. I'm wondering if it isn't a bad...

Polycarbonate roof moving and creaking when door is openend and closed

The issue is I can't access the bottom. The roof is up to the boundary and the neighbours won't give us access. We wanted the roof replaced. The builders came and they said no chance. So the builder said the job can't be done. I could try and possibly tape it from the inside

Polycarbonate roof moving and creaking when door is openend and closed

Supposedly. I'm guessing the screws at the bottom of the support bars have come loose. We put this coolkote solar film on to reduce heat. Works a treat but I'm guessing it's causing more expansion than previous and its found its weakest point

Polycarbonate roof moving and creaking when door is openend and closed

It's twin wall. I'm trying to avoid heat loss. I know it's virtually impossible with a polycarbonate roof

Polycarbonate roof moving and creaking when door is openend and closed

We have a utility room on the side of the house. Brick walls and a polycarbonate roof. We did the room up at the back end of last year. New flooring, decoration and furniture. I've just finished mopping up the bits that needed doing. One thing I've recently noticed is when the internal door into...

Replacing lean to polycarbonate roof with solid roof

If you don't want to spend money on it then have external doors fitted between the house and conservatory so you can shut it off in winter and put coolkote on the roof so it isn't a million degrees in summer. If you plan on staying where you are then put the lightweight roof on and don't worry...

Replacing lean to polycarbonate roof with solid roof

You won't need planning permission as it will fall under permitted development. You probably need building control tho. But out of curiosity when you purchased the house did anything flag up regarding certificates for the conservatory. I think we can overthink these situations at times.

Replacing lean to polycarbonate roof with solid roof

I know building control also check other things. Insulation levels. Ventilation. Mine has cavity wall insulation and the roof would have been insulated to standard. For me it was just the foundations. It is incredibly frustrating. It's a minefield of legislation. I'm an electrician by trade but...

Replacing lean to polycarbonate roof with solid roof

Maybe speak to a structural surveyor first? Get some advice. I know not all may be very helpful. I spoke to one chap who was great. They should know if these pre-approved tiled roofs will be suitable for the foundations you have. I know it's opening a can of worms tho and feels like it can be...

Replacing lean to polycarbonate roof with solid roof

I never had it done. The builder came to do it. He was gonna just put a proper solid tiled roof on. But he needed access from the neighbours side as it goes up to the boundary and leans that way and the neighbours refused. So the job stopped. I could have legally requested access but I couldn't...

    Cavity wall airbrick condensation issues

The only small room we can put them in is the utility room with a polycarbonate roof so that's a bad idea as it's the coldest room in the house and the dehumidifier isn't as efficient at lower temperatures. We dry them in the dining room which is quite large but the only viable option. How long...

    Cavity wall airbrick condensation issues

We do run the dehumidifier while the washing is on the radiator to remove the excess moisture. It's finding the balance until kids are old enough and gone and their isn't as much washing to do haha

    Cavity wall airbrick condensation issues

We use a dryer but for big bulky things like towels we stick them on the radiator and put on the dehumidifier. The smells from outside only occur when the kitchen extractor fan is on. Its a six inch icon fan so shifts a lot of air. I'm considering instead of opening the kitchen window opening...

    Cavity wall airbrick condensation issues

It's not a damp patch as in penetrating damp. It's definitely condensation which is definitely caused by the drying of washing. We open windows during the day before heating comes on and run a dehumidifier. I personally think temporarily plugging the chimney is the biggest issue as we have...

    Cavity wall airbrick condensation issues

In our front room we have large patio doors and windows but at one side is a cavity airbrick. So that side of wall is prone to condensation, mould, paint bubbling etc. So we plugged the chimney as it was heat loss, sound, smell of burning from neighbours log burner forced in when we run the...
