Rescuing data from an old CD

I have had a similar problem. I found that removing the adhesive label with soapy water cleared the problem - my impression/guess was that as the disc 'aged' the label 'shrank' and slightly distorted the disc beyond what the head could cope with. Could try for free!

Vaillant Eco TEC plus F72 error.

!3mth old boiler, serviced last month. On Friday showed F72 error (flow/return sensor fault - replace), spoke to installer who said I needed to contact Vaillant as under 10yr warranty. Told Vaillant about error and they sent an engineer the next day. Before even looking at the boiler, when I told...

    Very slow startup.

As already said - install an SSD. Read/ write cycles will not kill it in your lifetime - at lest as long as a mechanical HD! Speed improvement has stunned users whom I have installed an SSD for - avaiding replacement of PC.

    Laptop wont boot

Office 7 and indeed Office 10 are out of support. BUT you can call 0800-0188354 and it talks you through a re-install procedure - be ready with your code. I used it a few months ago - a bit long winded but it worked. Good luck - MikeD

    Laptop wont boot

Sorry - the LH connector is power, the central is data!! - brain fade. If you are logging into windows 10 using your microsoft account, (see settings/update & security/activation - windows is activated with a digital license), then when you re-install to the existing drive or to a replacement...

    Laptop wont boot

That is a SATA (Serial ATA) drive. The Left hand gold plated connector is the data connector, the central gold plated connector is the power connector. These will connect with the socket on the motherboard. The four right hand pins are probably for jumpers and not used.

Need to turn off router routinely?

If you contact them and get an operative with an Irish accent, you are in luck! Any other will just go through a checklist (including restart your modem router) and then lie to you to close the call! I speak from experience, being told many times there is s a problem in my area which is being...

convert external hard disk fat32 with prog to ntfs

XP has a "convert" function to do what you want without losing anything. Will even change the system disc - in this case after issuing the convert command the system restarts itself and carries out the change. NTFS is much better and stable than the archaic FAT/FAT32. Miked

    new router?

Your web surfing and on-line gaming connection is limited by your broadband speed - in your case (up to?) 2mbps, so your wireless connection speed (11g?) of 54mbps is not a problem. You either need to resite the wireless router or try a better directional aerial for more reliable connection. I...

    Thorn EMI Apollo 30/50B

The black sensor is the overheat 'stat - if the low or high 'stat fails - whichever one is in use, this cuts the signal from the themocouple due to the excess temperature. Either both the low and high 'stats have failed (possible but rather unlikely) or the overheat 'stat is faulty.
