    Thin cracks in Kitchen ceiling?

You learn to live with them. Sometimes we learn to let go, no matter how hard it can be.

    Sealing/Painting MDF Bath Side Panel

Zinsser 123, brush it on, lay it off with a roller if you don't want to see some brush marks.

    Potential obstacles relacing double glazing.

Look at the beadings, you'll see if it looks like they can be removed or not, so is that inside or outside?

    Caulk help

Some paints don't bond to caulk very well. Where you've caulked, prime it with a few coats of Zinsser 123. Also, caulk goes too hard and shrinks and cracks over time, use acrylic sealant instead.

Leaking garage roof - temp repair

I've seen those, but again are expensive and need brackets drilling into the walls. Probably not suitable long term because of winds, but I think those roof umbrellas are only really for a few days if you're doing roof work in the wet?

40 years ago - probably oil paint on woodwork - acrylic now?

To rub it down simply means flatten the surface, use 120 grit (you might need to give it more attention if there's chips etc). Then your water based will go on top fine, you'll need two coats with a 320 grit rub down between coats. Depends on which paint you're using, some benefit with their own...

    Painting around taped carpet edges

Hello, any tips on how to avoid that painted tape sticking to the woodwork when painting? Usually I pull carpets up, but this is on our stairs, so I've tucked the tape down the edges, but am finding that possibly when I remove the tape, I'm going to have lines around it where you'll see the...

Does electrical work as part of extension require notification or is it covered by the a building notice?

One could assume, that notification to building control is in the building application and covers everything, it's not as if they're expecting no electrical installation at all....
