Thanks everybody for their replies , with the help of a technician I have traced the trouble to the Onwa power supply , or he has to most probably a couple of capacitors and is walking me thru the repair of same . This seems to be a problem with these types of sets every 4 years so...

Thanks for answering , no It has nothing , just the little red light on the front that comes on when you switch it on . Do you think there is a possibilty that there should be sound if the tube is gone .? peter
