    Painting vinyl wallpaper

Its always better to take the wallpaper off but if you're feeling lazy use this: http://www.designercolours.com/store/view_detailed.php?code=ZI_123_-_Zinsser_123_Water_Based_All_Surface_Primer Use the stuff all the time when taking the paper off is going to be a real difficult job.

    coving choices

Put a pencil to polystyrene and it will damage. Used it once and never again. There's a type of coving out made of polyurethane which is reallly good - i'd never use anything else. Its light so easy to put up an doesn't damage like plaster or polystyrene and is fire resistant. And you just...

    paint - trade or retail

Ok, just used the Devine paint in colour 'custard' - it actually goes on how i think custard would! nice! good flow and good coverage. I used their 'Delicate' finish, which is like a soft sheen. As for the diamond matt you are right about the sheen level, but at least its not as much as soft...

    Exterior Painting

Use Colortrend Exterior Matt - its a new paint on the market but it has had a lot of good feedback from customers in the paint shop i work in at the moment. Also available in loads of colours. That or Dulux Trade Weathershield.

Kitchen & Bathroom paint vs Normal Silk Paint

I disagree with Zampa - Vinyl matt is not suitable for a bathroom. Use silk, acrylic eggshell (better) or dulux diamond matt.

    Which paint brushes

These sash brushes are the best around: http://www.designercolours.com/store/view_detailed.php?code=FR_SB_-_Sash_Brush_With_Copper_Ferrule For water based paints, Purdy brushes are also excellent and for oil based paints use Hamilton Perfections.

    paint - trade or retail

I am new to this forum so hello. I work in a paint shop that basically sells ALL paint from all brands apart from cheap ones like Leyland and Johnstones. From years and years of customer feedback I have gathered the following confirmed feedback: 1. Trade paint is better than retail...

    Which paint

I've used Designers Guild 'Chalk' in several Victorian properties - it really is a nice colour. Or 'Ivory' if you want a bit more colour in it. Also, 'Jewett White' from the Historic Colour Collection is an option - that's what I've used in several properties Get a colour chart pack from...
