Some systems have an additional pump and some rely on the pump in the ASHP, it depends on the overall system design, heat pump rating, flow temperatures, floor coverings, DHW requirement, etc.
Smart TRV’s don’t work very well IME, I have Drayton Wiser, but a lot of people swear by them.
WB boilers have EMS so you need either WB controls such as Easycontrol or but a Nefit Opentherm to EMS converter and buy an Opentherm control. There are mixed results concerning the Nefit converter so...
Surely every plumber, that I am aware of, that has installed a towel rail cant have made a mistake. I can count 12 towel rail installations (5 different plumbers) and every one has the same valves at both ends of the rail.
My IHD was accurate when I was on the standard variable rate tariff but now that i am on the Octopus tracker tariff it shows correct info for energy usage but is wrong on the cost. Octopus did warn me that this would be the case so I now just use the phone app which is accurate on both counts.
To use Vaillants ebus you will need controls form the page below.........

They aren't cheap but if you buy a Vaillant boiler you need Vaillant controls. Alternatively you could use simple on/off controls which are...
In my case I was looking at using HA with my Wiser heating controls. There is a Wiser integration for HA but it still needed a bit of YAML to get things to look and work how i wanted. In the end I gave up! If anyone is looking for a simple plug n play home automation system then HA isnt it IMO.
I've used HA. There is a huge steep learning curve to get the best out of it and you will need an in depth knowledge of YAML programming language. I used HA for a few weeks and then gave up as it was just too time consuming.
All my pans connect to the cistern like this. You push the flush valve through the cistern hole and using the flush valves large plastic nut to attach the metal donut ring to the flush valve. The rubber donut is then squash between the pan and the cistern and bolted down.
What do you consider to be a "significant amount of salt" and a "non-trivial amount of water"? Modern water softeners use very little of either these days (according to their specifications).
Are you sure the 728 is for DHW? I ask because the outside temp sensor which you say is connected to the 728 should be controlling the flow temp of the CH boiler.
Your boiler supports Opentherm so hopefully the existing thermostat is connected correctly but there's a good chance that the original installer didnt even know what Opentherm was.
