Sorry, not yet. I am still investigating and trying to reduce my usage. I have detailed what I have done and will be doing below. Once I have my next bill, I can compare and report the actual reduction I have managed to achieve. My main issues are that the house is large and not insulated...
Wow! Thanks for the information, that is really useful.
I have an Octopus Home Mini too. But haven't yet had the time to configure the HA plugin. My gas & electricity meters were fitted in Nov last year. Do you think my gas meter is battery powered too?
Thanks, someone else mentioned it too but since the app costs as well as requiring an ongoing subscription on top of this for all the features, I would be doing myself a terrible disservice if I didn't at the very least try and do this myself for free. Especially as I consider myself technically...
Thanks, just when I thought I had enough to be getting on with! :D
I think I read earlier on this thread (or maybe elsewhere) that there is an Octopus plugin for HA... Might try that first and if not then maybe what you suggested above.
I will definitely give the heat loss tool a go at some...
Thanks both. My next bill will be until the 24th which gives me a fresh start going into the next month to see if the changes I have made so far have paid off.
I will continue to monitor and tweak it (and make more changes mentioned here). But I am a lot happier knowing I can do something about...
Sorry! I am near Birmingham, West Midlands
Do you mean the boiler consumption test? Sorry I've not got round to that yet. This will have to wait until next week when it is only me at home again.
On a related note, Since updating my meter readings into the Tado app, it is now more accurately...
Just a quick update:
So for two days I have managed to get my usage down to almost half the average for the rest of the month. The 01-20 Jan average gas usage was 225 kWh. The usage on 21 Jan was 127 kWh, the usage on 22 Jan (yesterday) was 125 kWh.
For 21-22 Jan, I was the only one at home...
Probably. I have a full-blown server but am thinking in the future of deploying multiple raspberry pis (for ebusd, for ad blocking, for file sharing & backup, etc.) as well. This will give me much more flexibility. I havent yet used any raspberry pis but have heard many great things about them...
Yes these readings are from the smart meter.
I do believe them as I am using less heating. This was mainly not heating the room with the chimney which was sucking all the heat out of the room so the "smart" SRV was constantly heating the room 24/7. This also applies to other rooms as the "early...
Sorry, I will try and look into this later for you. My setup is a server running Unraid. I then run home assistant as a docker container (you can think of it as an app). Never ran this on windows.
