I have a second garage at which I wish to install an Electric Roller Door.
Can anyone advise me what size SWA Cable is required to the second garage??
All it is going to supply is one socket to plug the Roller Door Motor into, no other electric is required and run is about 30 meters
Online speed checker site used to show around 2 mb which is what I was told my line was capable of. The same site now shows a speed of 4 mb
The DSL rate reported by my router is even higher at over 6 mb
I dont know how or why, but I have been away for a few days and on my return have found that my Broadband speed has improoved somewhat...
In fact it is a lot faster than before I installed the new set up, its almost doubled. :D......
How has this hapened all of a sudden without me...
Yes I used the Blue/White pair for the connection, connecting them to A and B that is shown on the picture of the filtered faceplate at the start of the thread. A and B are dedicated connections for this purpose.
Could you also advise how I do the continuity test??
I have used CAT5E for the connection and have found that my Broadband has slowed down to a snails pace.....It's like dial up, achieving a download speed of only 125kbps
Could it be the cable causing this slow speed or something else... :(
To throw my findings into the argument,
I did used the twisted pair CAT5E cable from the filtered faceplate down to the RJ11 socket. I have found that although the connection is stable, my broadband speed is very, very slow
Do you think the mismatch at the faceplate is causing...
I am walpapering a wall, after which a Night Storage Heater will be fixed to the wall...
Ist it safe to have wallpaper behind the heater or would that be a fire hazzard??
Our house has seven telephone slave sockets and I wish to utilise six of them for the following;
Three Telephones
Two Sky Plus Boxes
One Printer Fax
Does anybody know if this will exceed the REN Limit on the line, and if so what affect it will have on the line if they are all connected...
Thank you for that,
The Filtered Faceplate instructions told me to use CAT5E cable for the connection. I hope it's ok, as I have run the cable now :(
The length of the run is about 9 metres!!!
So at the Faceplate end, I should connect one set of the twisted pair in the cable to A and B
The RJ11 has two rows of three connections,
Top row as follows from left to right;
Empty
Green
Black
Bottom row from left to right
Yellow
Red
Empty
So you think i should connect...
I am running a cat5e cable from a filtered faceplate to an RJ11 socket for my modem/router. The filtered faceplate has its own dedicated connections for this purpose (marked A and B in the picture).
I do not understand how to connect the RJ11 end as no instructions came with it.
Could...
Yes I am wiring off the filtered faceplate which has its own dedicated connections for the data cable, down to a rj11 socket.
bernardgreen has given his reasons, see above, I would be changing at the filtered faceplate, mentioned in his comment
