Hi Dan, Yes, water filled the header from the main supply, as I drained the water from the vent to the right of the cylinder. All the pipes from the tans are 22mm, though the hot water one's go up to 28mm not far from the boiler. If someone has tinkered with the plumbing, i doubt it was...

Hi Dan, yep loads of water. I let it run while checking the header tank in the loft. It was a bit dirty, but not too bad. Could I use the gravity return valve at the top of the boiler to bleed any air, or back-flush it?

Hi guys, I connected a piece of hose to the service valve with the other end in the bathroom sink, and opened the valve allowing it to run through, before closing the valve. Unfortunately, it's made no difference, and the boiler still cut's out from overheating before the water gets hot...
