Actually, there /is/ a thick foamy washer on it, but it's on the top side, under the cistern. It seems to put a strain on the whole thing, because it's so thick, and its making the lands where the nuts meet bend a bit. It also seems to push the bowl end of it upwards. Do you think this washer...
