Mould at my Mother in Laws house

Thanks. I am wondering if it's sufficient. The mouldy part of the kitchen feels a bit like a dead zone in terms of ventilation. Maybe it could be an addition to a fan or cooker hood.

Mould at my Mother in Laws house

Many thanks for this. It may be tricky to fit a hood. It's an awkward space but a fan as first option is possible. I noticed Envirovent has one called silent 150. Is that suitable? Good point about tiled or laminated board. It's a very old kitchen and would probably need changing completely at...

Mould at my Mother in Laws house

Thanks for this. Her kitchen is a little awkward and could be tricky to fit a cooker hood. Perhaps boarding the wall is the smart move. She already has one fan but it's located in the middle of the kitchen and the condensation from cooking tends to move to the other end so I was thinking a fan...

Mould at my Mother in Laws house

I was wondering if anyone can help. I am trying to advice my mother in law about black mould in her kitchen which I think is due to condensation. In a nutshell: the kitchen has an odd old extension which has very thin walls. When she cooks the extension back wall gets slightly wet and over...

    Ceiling crack mistake

I know what you mean. I would like to feel like I am handing it over in good nick to the best of my abilities. Luckily it's not artex, just simple toupret interior filler on top of the tape. I'll give it a go. Probably better than keep on trying to fix it. Thanks btw.

    Ceiling crack mistake

Yes maybe that's the way to do it. My main concern is that I am beginning to get a bit fed up plus I guess I am wondering how difficult it will be to take the tape off and repair but it may be the best option not to cut corners. I suppose I could test one end. May be simpler than I thought.

Using gypsum with lime plaster wall

That looks like lime to me. I've done a similar project although a lot fewer cracks. Our house is also lime and I filled holes with regular modern plaster mostly out of ignorance. One thing I'll say is that some of the cracks slowly reappeared after 2 years probably because of slight movement...

    Ceiling crack mistake

Hi there I made a really dumb mistake when fixing a crack in a ceiling 5 years ago (victorian house). In my defense I was a bit checked out due to various circumstances. Anyway, I used ultra strong packing tape instead of plastering tape. It has actually held up fine and I put toupret...

Cistern makes a bump end of flush

Apologies, got terminology mixed up. It's the flush valve where the bump comes from. It seems to have decreased slightly but I may still clean it out as you suggested. Btw, one other question. The back to wall toilet is stable and firm but when I put my hand on the silicone seal behind the...

Cistern makes a bump end of flush

Both flushes. It's a bit less now though. As far as I can tell it's the flush pipe, there's a bit in there that hits the bottom when flushing but haven't actually taken it apart yet and cleaned. Had a thought that maybe it's because it's a cheap cistern.

    Thank you. Much appreciated

Cistern makes a bump end of flush

Great, will have a look. So is this bump I notice in flush valve a common occurance? I am asking because the manufacturer had never heard of it before. Maybe a predictable response from a manufacturer.

Cistern makes a bump end of flush

Isn't the restrictor that comes with the cistern adequate?

Cistern makes a bump end of flush

I tried backing the stop tap back which didn't make any difference. Will have a look at a water hammer arrestor. Weird though that it was all fine to begin with. Thanks
