Potterton Netaheat 16-22 not firing (updated)

Thanks for all the warnings. I have seen lots of similar warnings on this forum and others. Rest assured, I am certainly not about to take the case apart. I will under no circumstances attempt anything gas-related. I am guessing that I have an electrical fault. I have a healthy respect for...

Potterton Netaheat 16-22 not firing (updated)

Thank you for your reply. I only hear the relay click when I turn up the stat but then nothing, - no fan, no ignition. However meantime the pump pumps away merrily as long as HW and/or CH are set to ON via the timer.. I had thought that under normal working conditions if the boiler were not...

Potterton Netaheat 16-22 not firing (updated)

I drained the system to repair a dripping rad valve. When I refilled and turned system back on (HW/CH) the 3 amp fuse next to the boiler blew within about 5 seconds. This fuse also covers the circuit to the airing cupboard where the cylinder, pump and heating controls are, so everything stopped...

How do I identify "old" lockshields?

Thank you for the advice on identifying the flow and return ends. On the basis of 2 opinions there seems to be a 50/50 split as to which end the valve should go on and I've noticed from other posts that there seems to be an ongoing debate about this.

How do I identify "old" lockshields?

I wish to install TRVs on my radiators (except the 2 nearest to the room thermostats). The system dates from ca 1970. The caps on all the rads are identical at both ends and (square nut approx 7mm) but flimsy and broken and so I cannot turn rads on and off. More importantly, visually there is...

Honeywell 2 way valve short circuited by dripping flange

I have been using immersion heater for hot water for past 2 months as too busy to try and fix. Th picture is now posted. If anyone out there can advise as to the type of valve I have and whether I can change it without draining the system I would be grateful for the help.

Honeywell 2 way valve short circuited by dripping flange

Thank you Croydoncorgi for talking me through it in fine detail. Thanks too to ChrisR. Not sure I believe ChrissR is really in Antarctica, but no doubt a bit of central heating knowledge is handy down there! Thanks for the tip about repositioning the valve. I will look at that. First off I...

Honeywell 2 way valve short circuited by dripping flange

I have been searching for a "how to replace a motorised valve head" article on the web or an exploded diagram of a Honeywell valve and cannot find either one. Description of problem: The 3A fuse in the plug controlling the CH junction box (pump, boiler, motorised valves and HW tank...
