    Worcester Greenstar losing pressure

SUCCESS!!!!! I eventually found a recommended plumber prepared to take on the job of replacing all the manifolds & making good the tails. He pressurised to 1.2bar, & 60 hours later, it's still at 1.2bar! Thanks so much for the advice you've given me over many months. I'm very grateful...

    Worcester Greenstar losing pressure

There's no more than a litre in the manifold sump, so it's more of a weep than a leak there. I've been away for 2 weeks and the upstairs rads were half empty, even at zero pressure. It took 5 minutes to top up. On a daily basis, it will drop from 1.7 bar to .5 bar in 6 hours. The plumber who...

    Worcester Greenstar losing pressure

Hi Terry, Just an update to say I'm still in the same position I was a few months ago ie topping up pressure every few hours. It seems plumbers around here are only interested in 30 minute boiler services for £70. One guy suggested writing off the downstairs microbore & replumbing with 15mm...

Yep. It’s all 40 years old. The other manifold is underneath and the phone camera only autofocusses on the top one. I agree about fixing the visible leaks and see if I still lose pressure. I’ll update you after I’ve had it done. ✔️

    Worcester Greenstar losing pressure

Hi Terry. 3 photos attached. 2 manifolds with 6 microbore pipes attached to each. I have 7 downstairs radiators so perhaps 1 nearby radiator is connected elsewhere. The plan is to get a reliable plumber to fit new manifolds and new connections to the pipes running to the radiators. The 2...

Leaks are from the olive/nut interface to the manifold. Nothing from the copper/plastic piping. I’ll take a photo tomorrow as it’s POETS day and old habits die hard!

    Worcester Greenstar losing pressure

Thanks Terry. I have 6 downstairs radiators fed by micro bore copper pipe running in plastic pipes under concrete. It’s quite a large house and converting to 15mm above ground would be very messy and expensive. Built 40 years ago. I’ve just checked the chamber where the 2 manifolds are sited...

    Worcester Greenstar losing pressure

Hi Terry, Happy New Year to you. Another Bosch Worcester engineer has just visited, pressurised to 2 bar, isolated the boiler via inlet & outlet valves, left it 50 minutes & it hadn't lost pressure. When he opened the valve, I saw the pressure drop considerably, thus proving the leak has been on...

    Worcester Greenstar losing pressure

The WB engineer replaced the heat exchanger, but didn’t find evidence of a leak from it. I’m not sure if the expansion vessel was replaced. Anyway, it’s still losing pressure, although a little slower. I’ll ring them tomorrow and see what they say, after I’ve checked for leaking from the...

It was a BOXT installation and I have his details. Is that the place to start?

    Worcester Greenstar losing pressure

It was commissioned on 21 Oct 22 and serviced on 9 Feb 24. Losing pressure since winter 23 and i can get a GSR to confirm. Slightly over the service schedule, so are they going to play nice, in your experience?

    Worcester Greenstar losing pressure

Hi Terry. I'm now having to repressurise every 5 or 6 hours to keep my heating working. I've just gone up some steps where the condensate drain goes into a gutter. Tapping the pipe produces about 8 or 10 drips of water. I've pressurised the boiler to 1.8 bar, left it 10 minutes and it again...

Yes, I've already tried that. See about 6 posts back. I take your point about an internal pipe leak check and will report back next week. Have a great weekend.

Thanks Terry. I need to find time to shin up a ladder, disconnect the condensate drain pipe when cold & see if there's a small but steady flow. Nothing is coming from the PRV pipework. As I have to repressurise every 6 hours or so, it has to be going somewhere.
