New Soil Pipe into Inspection Chamber

I like this, answering a question with a question! An excerpt from Part H for you @Murdochcat "Inspection chambers and manholes in buildings should have mechanically fixed airtight covers unless the drain itself has watertight access covers."

New Soil Pipe into Inspection Chamber

Really? It's an extension, approved planning didn't raise any issues with it. Also meant to say, ignore the other trench you can see, in hindsight I felt it would be too sharp a turn into the chamber. Cheers

New Soil Pipe into Inspection Chamber

Good people of DIYnot, I had been intending to check with building control but as they don't work weekends I've kept carrying on, worst case scenario the lot may have to come out and a plastic chamber put in, but Do you think running a plastic soil pipe into the existing chamber to meet the...

Extension floor screed - joining with existing

@liftfan what did you decide to do please? I am debating what to do with my existing slab as well, we know we want UFH and was planning to do it as an L shape around the existing floor but now I'm thinking do it once, do it right. Although being on clay soils which required the extension to...

    Flat Roof Query

Not double joists, just the 220mm joist run through and notched over the outer leaf and then notched again to create a stepped detail. Would you typically vent the void of a warm roof soffit? Standard fascia will fit as the stepped detail was measured to accommodate standard sizes and hollow...

    Flat Roof Query

As an update, finally found a break in the weather to tackle the flat roof with a notched/stepped detail to break up the depth of the fascia. In hindsight an additional course of bricks (or two) on the outer leaf may have achieved the same but I think what I have done looks acceptable and...

    Door Threshold / FFL

Hi @noseall, yes. The door opens inwards. I've a good local supplier but by his own admission states I would be able to better price/function/performance wise than their offering. Been looking at Welthaus, very, very competitively priced with a decent lead time and good reviews from self...

    Door Threshold / FFL

As always @noseall thanks for the sense check. Can anyone recommend a reputable aluminium door supplier, or have you opted for composite owing to similar issues like this/condensation concerns? Thanks

    Door Threshold / FFL

To be fair, first video I looked at this morning by the supplier with fresh eyes I think spells out the issue.......

    Door Threshold / FFL

The aluminium door and it's aluminium frame apparently! The lack of insulation visible in the door has me concerned, And positioning that frame in the opening for the cill to clear the external leaf could prove tricky!

    Door Threshold / FFL

Well, what's there is minimal........ Haven't necessarily decided this is the door I'll be going for, I've further questions about insulation/panel construction etc.

    Door Threshold / FFL

Yes, door threshold gives 11m so they suggest top of brickwork is level with FFL. If removing two courses and putting in a snap header does that mean the DPC will be at a different level at the door opening, i.e. a course lower? Thanks @noseall

    Door Threshold / FFL

That was my bad, I fear the builders knew me asking for an additional course was a mistake hence they didn't fill the centres! So, back to the original question please, Could I make up a shutter to the correct height and use something like a 4:1 mix (sharp/cement) for the door to be installed...

    Door Threshold / FFL

That's interesting, I've not seen an opening done that way previously, also building control didn't pass any remarks and there was nothing like you describe in the detail. If it helps this is an opening under cover as shown below so I'm hoping it won't be overly exposed to the elements.
