Garden Office Insulation & Damp Proofing

Instead of the Celotex, I may use 90mm Knauf FrameTherm® Roll 40 if that is any better for what I'm doing?

Garden Office Insulation & Damp Proofing

I'm converting a 14x8 summerhouse into a garden office shortly and wanted advice on insulation and damp proofing as I've read some contradictory information. The summerhouse will have a 19mm ship lap external layer with 40mm x 70mm treated timber frame behind it. I was planning on putting 30mm...

    Forced RCD Upgrade in CU

Do you have a link to one please?

    Forced RCD Upgrade in CU

But wouldn't that still cause the house CU to trip if an earth or neutral fault was detected?

    Forced RCD Upgrade in CU

So what would you suggest? I'd have preferred an IP66 box on the wall where the supply exits the house and inside it have the 6mm armoured cable connect to 6mm twin and earth with Wago connectors. That way if it was an issue, it could be terminated inside the IP66 box.

    Forced RCD Upgrade in CU

As for the previous electrician using the cheapest materials; yeah, he was an absolute clown. Mentioned the excessive damage he caused during the work and he said he'd claim on his insurance once we were paid. Paid him for the work and then asked him to make the insurance claim, to which he said...

    Forced RCD Upgrade in CU

The plan for the circuit was as follows: In the garden room there will be a three-way garage CU with 32A, 16A and 6A MCBs. A PC, monitor, TV, printer and a kettle will use the 32A MCB. A 2kW panel heater will use the 16A MCB. Lighting circuit with 7 internal and 3 external downlights on the 6A...

    Forced RCD Upgrade in CU

He said he was going to connect the armoured cable to the spare B40 MCB but would need to change the BG RCD in the photo from a type AC to a type A one to bring it up to the current regs due to it being non-compliant.

    Forced RCD Upgrade in CU

So I don't need to have the RCDs changed in the house CU?

    Forced RCD Upgrade in CU

I've had a quote from an electrician to install an electricity supply to a garden room. The current CU was installed in 2020 when another electrician did a full rewire. The first thing this electrician said when he saw the CU was, "Installed in 2020 and already outdated," and then proceeded to...

    Garden Office Power Supply

The house CU is a 10-way one split into 2 lots of 5 MCBs. Each lot of 5 has a RCD on it. Is that what you mean by "requires RCD protection"? As for the office CU (also having RCD protection), would a 2 way one be better and run a radial circuit off it for the sockets and a single lighting...

    Garden Office Power Supply

I'm looking at running a power supply to a garden office for 8 double sockets, an internal lighting circuit and an external lighting circuit. In my home consumer unit (house was fully rewired with new CU in 2020), I have a spare B40 MCB. Am I able to go from the B40 with 6mm T&E to 3 Core 6mm...

Fuse Box Come Away From Wall

I'll just secure it with some cavity fixings. I may even have some GripIt ones. It won't come off with those. My bathroom wall cabinet has been on 18 months with those and has shown no sign of moving.

Fuse Box Come Away From Wall

Sorry for the lack of response. Been a bit busy the past couple of days. I'll do as a couple suggested and turn it off at the main red switch and carefully reattach it to the wall with plasterboard fixings tomorrow. I've got some decent cavity wall anchors. I did contact the installer who said...

Fuse Box Come Away From Wall

He won't come back. You can guarantee that. We had a nightmare with him when he did the rewire - something I asked for advice from on here. When I complained about the damage he caused (after I'd paid him in full), he withheld our certificates and demanded an extra £715 as he wanted to charge...
