    Lighting Junction Box Advice

Thanks for the replies, that's a bit more reassuring. I'm planning on investigating a bit more when I get the chance just to see what else I can safely see around. The place has clearly been rewired at some point, there is evidence of old discarded black rubber cable where it has been replaced...

Thanks for the prompt reply - so are you saying it's not necessarily dangerous?

    Lighting Junction Box Advice

We have lived in a 1930s home for several years now that has a loft conversion. I've just been out in the roof space around the room in the loft and have found a junction box that serves a bedroom light in a room below containing the cable in and out and to the light and switch. All four have...

    Concrete Base

Thanks for the reply Terry - it's around 4in of concrete + sub-base, I've put a level along the front and down one side and it's fairly plumb, just starts tapering away from around the centre to one corner where it gradually tapers off to a 50mm drop from the good corner to the bad one. If I lay...

    Concrete Base

Hi, I'm looking to replace and old 10 x 8ft shed with a larger 10 x 12ft one. I'll need to extend the current base on one side to accommodate it but have also found that it gradually drops away into one corner on this side up to about 50mm (other than that in good condition). It's one complete...

    Concrete Disposal (weight?)

Just thought I'd update this in case it could be useful for any other DIYers - was getting quotes of around £200 for a 3yrd skip (Southampton area) so went with a couple of grab bags (cost £84 inc VAT). I was fortunate that a neighbour had recently removed a pond and needed it filling so...

    Concrete Disposal (weight?)

Of course I meant "between 50 and 75mm" showing me age! Thanks for replies, might take a look at the possibility of a couple of grab bags as far cheaper than a skip probably depend on how much soil I can lose. Cheers.

    Concrete Disposal (weight?)

I’m just in process of breaking up a concrete garden path, it’s approx. 1m wide, 11m in length and varies between 2 and 3 inches thick. Just contemplating best way to dispose of rubble, can anyone estimate weight so I can decide whether a small skip or grab bags would do the job - I’m guessing a...

    Slow draining basin waste

Ok, will give that a go. Ta.

    Slow draining basin waste

That was quick, cheers Axel. It is 'telescopic' and I have adjusted it to sit at the lowest point from the basin to see if that effected the flow into the bucket but no difference. No instructions other than initial fitting. I guess the next step will be to get another trap and try that.

    Slow draining basin waste

I've just fitted a new washstand and vanity bowl with an unslotted waste and new bottle trap. This is attached to new pipework (so no blockages) but the water is draining away very slowly from the basin. I've disconnected the trap from the pipework and allowed the basin to drain away through...
