Hello everyone!
Can anyone tell me a reason not to use roll insulation (the same as the stuff you get in campervans), or underfloor insulation as an additional layer of insulation in the ceiling of a loft conversion ?- it would then be covered in plasterboard
long story shot - we have a...
We have a small bathroom, and my son (dont you just love kids) left a tap running, we had cheap lino down and it looks like the chipboard flooring is totaly soaked though. Reading online, this is not something that's worth saving. So I'd be looking to pull it up and replace it.
What's the best...
So, long story short is we are going to upgrade our velux windows in a partial loft conversion rebuild and upgrade.
At the moment we are unsure if we will replace with the same size. We might opt to replace with something that’s thinner but longer. Meaning that the existing hole that’s been cut...
Anyone know the best way to attach angle beading to insulated plasterboard?
Because if its thickness standard angle beading can’t be screwed to the baton that’s under the insulation. Anyone know the best way to deal with this? .
Hi all,
Im most of my way through a garage conversion - its nothing special, more of a nice workshop than a beautifully finished room..
The walls are now done - fully insulated with a vapor barrier pinned, covering walls and ceiling.
And now onto the floor - my plan is to 1st lay a sheet of...
I have a cheap door (which is in great condition) that I picked up on FB, and it's about 70mm too small for my existing opening.
This is a side garage door and is very very well protected from rain and the roof overhang is pretty large.
I have loads of birch ply hanging around and I am...
Hello!
Im in the process of converting a garage to a insulated workshop - Ive put up stud work that's parallel with he window opening but I didn't think how best to fill the gaps in the window reveal before I did all this (newbie error!)
The gap is quite large, probably around 100mm - Ive...
Hey all.
I’m in the middle of a diy garage conversion. At the moment the stud walls up and I’m now thinking about electrics
Before I go further I will be asking an electrician to pop over/offer advice and perhaps quote on doing the more skilled parts of the job, but before I do this I’d like...
Hi All,
We have a sizable double garage and Im thinking of converting one half into an office.
My current plan is to do this with zero structural change to the garage*. Ill basically will be putting in insulation (it's a single brick building), plasterboard, and nothing else, it already has...
Our house has never been warm. I know it has cavity wall insulation as I've come across it while drilling holes and having a wood burner installed a few years back. But how good is what we have I just don't know. There could be voids around the house, I simply don't know. And what is in the wall...
Ive not looked in detail (I will when Im home) but Ive been told the metal box wont alow for the Bluetooth/Wifi connection to be made to the smart meter - its a reasonably common issue with older builds I belive
Sadly that won't work for us - we are looking to take advantage of a reduced night time tariff which we need a smart meter for. So really the boxes need a total replacement (as they are metal)
Our Gas and Electic meter boxes are in a bit of a state and need replacing. In addition to this, we had an engineer visit a while back to install a smart meter and couldn't as our boxes are metal.
my confusion lies in who to talk to with regards to getting them replaced - is this a simple...
Okay, Im not a total idiot but still...
I have a large double garage which already has a partition down the middle - other than that is single brick, concrete floor construction with two single-glazed windows.
Building a stud wall/adding buttons to the walls is a piece of cake. Where I'm a...
