Evening all
Had a single socket changed over to one with a couple of usbs on it too when I had some work done a few weeks back.
I've noticed though that the usbs get warm when some devices are plugged into them (like a phone that has fast charge capability for example) .
They say they can do...
Oaky... so having taken everything into account in terms of the info you folks have given, I have just had a quick listen to the fusebox. With just the dishwaser running, there appears to be a very very quiet hum. So quiet I had to practically bolt my ear to it. After listening around the box...
Thank you for the info. I'll just have to krep my eye on it till the guys have been to look at it all. The better half has told me not to worry about it till then!
Cheers again
Thank you for the information. I think we will have to have the assessment and then see what comes from it. I just assumed the electrican would test the circuit prior to fitting a new CU and advise on a cable upgrade if required.
by the looks of it, the 20amp mcb is one that had had the...
I have, and there was nothing mentioned in the reports relatig to the electrics unfortunately :(.;we havent had an issue until now and to be fair, if I hadnt been stood under it the other day, I wouldnt have even noticed it. This could have been going on for ages and ive just not noticed it...
But it would be safer? I want to do the best for the system- of course I do. But I really dont have the 000s needed to rewire right now. If a CU is going to make the system safer then I will get this done now and a rewire in the near future. Or is it even worth that step when its a matter of not...
To be honest, that is what I thought it could be. But being the csrefuk type I thought I'd ask an electrician to check it out. I just wish he would have told the wife that. It would make sense to me that if you push something to its limit, its bound to do something out of the ordinary. Should...
So as long as its managed, it should be okay until I can get it upgraded to a 30amp circuit?
Am I right in thinking its only when its buzzing that an issue could occur under the current set up?
Theres 2 in the board- 1 5amp for the light ring and 1-20 which is the circuit that I believe buzzes. But it does only do it when multiple big appliances are running. Given that its only 20amp, could this buzzing be the line reaching its maximum beforenit would trip?
to be honest, if the...
We also do not have any dimmers (I dont like the thought of any kind of restriction on the circuit at any time tbh!)
As mentioned-it only happens on one circuit, when theres more than 1 high load appliance on. I can put every light in the house on, the Tv system, and the dishwasher for...
Hi.
The electrician couldnt find the issue when he had tightened everything up. I wasmt here at the time and my wife cannot hear it because of hearing problems. So we assumed all was sorted.
the box is a brown plastic one. It has some of the fuses in and some retrofit mcbs. I will try to...
Thanks for the info guys. All very much appreciated.
Am I right in thinking that when the new box will be installed that the electrician will have to check the system for loose connections, etc before the box can be installed? I'm guessing they have fancy gadgets to test for where they may be...
