    cooker connection to consumer unit

Its all been an interesting learning curve, the initial question of 'is it incorrect for a mcb to share a kitchen radial circuit and a feed directly to an oven' the answer appears to be clearly no, an individual mcb for the oven is recommended and is preferably rcd side of the consumer, which...

can you explain rather than just making the statement how you have come to that conclusion after reading all the comments that have proceeded yours?? the live from the metre goes to the live side of the main switch that connects to the live busbar through all of the mcbs. connecting to all...

    cooker connection to consumer unit

it does look odd as the bus is off to the left so crosses the neutral, i suspect whoever installed it was set on following the polarity marked on the switch with live being on the right. i presume the switch is symmetrical so could be reversed as long as polarities aren't crossed obviously...

erm, not sure why you are indicating something might be wrong based on what you can't see? anyway i appreciate your concern, the live on the right top is connected at the bottom to the bus bar, the neutral is wired round to the neutral rail.

if the oven/cooker is removed from the 32a mcb to a new mcb, is the remaining kitchen radial ok left on the original 32a mcb on its own?.

    cooker connection to consumer unit

yes the plan is to change the freestanding oven/hob with a built in double oven and gas hob, the double oven is 16a, i just wanted to check my suspicion that what is installed already is wrong, i.e. sockets and cooker sharing the same mcb. so in short a new 16a mcb dedicated to the oven is the...

yes definitely controls the 4 double sockets above the worktop, but yes as you say it a ring would have 2 cables so must be radial.
