    Painting Flexible Things?

Hi all, i want to permanantly paint, dye, or in some way change the colour of, things that really don't want to be painted 1. I have some trainers with semi rigid synthetic soles. Some kind of rubber or plastic. Specifically on the side of the sole area, its slightly softer than normal rubber...

    Bathroom and Kitchen Curtains?

is this a good or a bad thing for the purpose of keeping heat inside my home? please forgive my cluelessness, its been a while since i did thermodynamics in physics class

    Repairing a partially broken wire?

well thats a fascinating solution, but i wonder if this lamp may be too complex for it, due to the multiple kinds of logic going on from the little box Also, maybe its just me, but it smacks of oversimplified ease, like shelves that come with a "no drilling" advertisement, but sticking them on...

    Bathroom and Kitchen Curtains?

Hey the first one told me not to bother, and the second one called me a bot. I am listening to actually good advice, and will probably be going with blinds

    Bathroom and Kitchen Curtains?

its looking like blinds are the way to go, would it be best to fit them in, or over, the window recess? all my windows are recessed by half a foot or so, plenty of space to have the blind entirely inside, but would that compromise the thermals?

    Bathroom and Kitchen Curtains?

this sounds positive, what kind of blinds, what material? ive seen a lot of metal blinds but i feel like they would conduct heat away and not serve the purpose, while fabric ones seem mould-vulnerable, is there a compromise?

    Bathroom and Kitchen Curtains?

what's the point? Heat retention, that is literally the only point i care about, not privacy and not light, i just want to keep my house warm(er)

    Bathroom and Kitchen Curtains?

would blinds do much for keeping heat in though? Yes normal curtains would be a fire risk and get mouldy but shower curtains don't go mouldy (if you clean them occasionally), so clearly some materials are suitable for use in wet environments

    Bathroom and Kitchen Curtains?

not really concerned about privacy, they both face onto my bathrooms but that aside, what!?!

    Bathroom and Kitchen Curtains?

well why not? Curtains are used for insulation in other rooms, aren't they?

    Bathroom and Kitchen Curtains?

Hi all, sorry if this is the wrong subforum, it seemed like the only one related to heat, that was my basis: The kitchen and bathroom are consistently the coldest rooms in my house. They are also the rooms that lack both carpets and curtains I dont think putting carpets in them is feasible for...

    Repairing a partially broken wire?

well now, why exactly will i need a soldering iron? Given what was said above, it sounds like i could just cut the wire, strip it, twist the ends together, and reseal in these heatshrink tubes. In that case presumably the twisting and the tube would hold things together, and no soldering is needed?

    Repairing a partially broken wire?

I dont know much about electrics, i think i was upfront about that ! But i'm here to learn i do actually have a heat gun, bought it for label work once, recently been using it for fabric interfacing and paint drying, so that part won't be a problem, and the tubing seems pretty cheap, i saw...

    Repairing a partially broken wire?

i did a bit of searching for heatshrink tubing, and there are a LOT of sizes, any idea what i'd need? Something smaller i presume? The wire is pretty thin, maybe 5mm, no idea how many smaller wires (cores?) are inside it and how exactly is stripping done?
