    Faulty BT Line

Getting back to the the OP,if it was a line fault, surely water in the circuit would be detected by line tests, the fact that it is cleared by an incoming call, I would suggest the fault might be in the exchange. The fact that the broadband is working fine would suggest not a line fault.

    New fuse board

By todays standards, you should establish the size, by the number of circuits required, and account for future expansion, probably a 14 way in your case, and each circuit to be protected by an appropriate RCBO, probably need surge protection,(SPD) I have been impressed by Fusebox, look on...

    Tracing a faulty cable

Is it a ring final or a radial? how many sockets are involved? Have you got a test meter? you will need to split the circuit and test between the conductors.

No Voltage on Wires in Light Switch

You wont get voltage, meter measures difference between line and neutral or earth,it is not unusual to have only live in a lightswitch.

Extend Ring Main or add FCU?

Lets hope the OP doesn't buy a cheap LAP DS then, lucky to get 3x 2.5mm in them.

Extend Ring Main or add FCU?

Trying to get two 2.5mm and a 4mm in the back of a DS might be difficult, easier to continue the ring.

    Smart meters (again...)

I got my smart meter fitted in 2018, then changed supplier so now it is dumb, ,If you can get a cheaper tariff so be it. they are nothing to worry about, just wish I had asked them to fit an isolating switch at the same time.

    Central heating shuts down unexpectedly

Hi Martyn, the guys on here are a great help, but you will need to provide a lot more inof, type of boiler, is it combi, etc, my guess to your problem would be a 3 way port needs looking at ,but I am only going by having a similar problem. the FAQ's are a good starting point. NB

    Central heating packed up

Hi Rob, as said the 3 port needs investigating, read the FAQ's, I had similar probs, removed actuator as described, by pressing black button on the side, and found I couldn't move the spindle with my fingers, bit of wd40, and wiggle back and forward(with pliers) did the trick, beware it only...

    777 down.

Mega, you are probably right. I liked the bit where the captain made sure everyone knew it was the co-pilot who was at the controls........just in case there is any blame to come!. Don't be surprised if a terrorist group claim it was them, or perhaps we would have heard of that by now

    mathematics ,or just spooky

I was hoping for something like "Einsteins numbers Theory", but I guess softus was on the button with 9 times table (I could always get the tune with that, but never the words) And I wouldn't mind a pint of what Tims been drinking, but don't fancy the sore rear end!
