Thanks SFK. I mentioned single metal terminal block because I need to terminate 5 neutral wires and 5 live wires in each block on the first junction box. I had looked at the connector blocks you mentioned, but wondered if terminating all 5 cables into one of those might be a bit of a squeeze...
Thanks Eric. I'm intending on using these for the spotlights - https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01CP19O62/ref=pe_385721_37038051_TE_3p_dp_1
and these for the ground lights - https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B011KPY9GO/ref=pe_385721_51767431_TE_dp_1
Both seem to support DC by the looks of it.

Hi All,
I'm planning on wiring up a set of outdoor lights like the following -
I just wanted to clarify that this was the correct way to wire everything up in parallel?
I've checked in this forum and found this topic which I think confirms my plan as ok -...
What I suspected, thanks for clarifying.
An AC output is not suitable for my particular use case, as I wanted to use LED ribbon lighting (which only supports DC) on the same transformer as the spotlights. It seems what I'm missing is MR16 lamps for outdoor use that support DC from an...
Hi All,
Thanks for the continued advice, greatly appreciated. I've got as far as purchasing the LED spotlights now, but have just spotted something that I'd like clarifying if possible.
Looking at going for these for two of the spotlights...
Ericmark thanks a lot, exactly the information I was looking for!
I'm only just getting used to the technical terms, but glad I've at least avoided saying bulbs instead of lamps :D
The only real reason is that I already have an outdoor 240v single socket, and using a single power supply...
Thanks for the feedback all. I'm going to continue down the 12v route, it does appear that normal LED lamps tend to be able to handle AC or DC, whereas the LED strips usually only handle DC, so that pushes me towards a DC transformer.
Also thanks SFK for the link to the other post you...
Thanks for the feedback. Is your suggestion for 240v due to my idea being unfeasible, or just a preference for 240v installations?
I was hoping to use a 12v setup for safety, power efficiency and installation flexibility reasons. I know 240v has it's advantages, but my preference at the...
Hi all,
I'm having some trouble working out which 12v transformer I should buy, or if there's even one available for what I want to do, and wondered if anyone was able to shed some light.
I want to install 4 LED spotlights, and 3-4 metres worth of LED striplight in my back yard. The total...
