Not sure if it is relevant, but I have the same boiler. The thing used to go mad, clicking like a machine gun. My boiler engineer took a look at the circuit board. There were some dry contacts, so with a bit of solder, the contacts were sorted and the clicking stopped.

Looking at similar myself. Have north facing bedroom with cold spots giving condensation and mould. We've done our best to eliminate the cause and now want to decorate. There are some minor cracks in the surface of this wall and the celing has some awful paper, so we are looking to skim them...

There is one long horizontal crack, but the vast majority are indeed vertical. The house has cavity wall insulation (really annoying polystyrene balls), but I don't think that makes any difference.

I am getting quotes to remove my original pebble dashed render, stablilise the bricks underneath and replace with a new render. Should I consider doing the wall ties at the same time? The current render has several cracks, generally centred around windows etc. I have in the past siliconed...
