Cheers, that was my inclination as well - I'm aware that because of how these are moulded the underside won't be perfect, but it did concern me that it might crack in use. Will swap it.

You might be right - I forget what those valves were called, but either way turning the screw will turn it on/off, with the screw head being across the pipe being off, and along it being on.
Could the tap on the other end perhaps be faulty/stuck?
Other than that I'm a bit stuck I'm afraid...

That screw is some kind of in-line valve - so if you open[1] both the screw and the tap (there is one on each end of the filler loop, so it can be removed - boiler installation instructions, or at least the ones for mine, tell the installer to remove it, but nobody seemingly ever...

I have bought a new stone resin shower tray, which I opened today and noticed that, hidden behind the polystyrene, there is some damage where the resin and stone seem to have separated.
It's under the ridge around the very edge...
