I dont think these pumps switch from negative to positive head or vice versa during operation, they determine what the requirements are during the commissioning stage.

I forgot to mention that the pump does run on demand, as for the fan it does run and light the boiler but only after messing with the time clock. I've checked the tubes and the venturi and they seem ok,

I worked in Canada for a couple of years and used loads of Pex, its good stuff in my opinion especially if you use the better quality pipe. It even comes in red & blue which cuts out the risk of cross connection. We ought to adopt this method over here as its proved to be reliable...
