Thanks dilalio. I have a lot of respect for the experts on here and wish no harm to anyone. I'm certainly not a bitter person, but I felt I had been conned. Put yourself in my shoes - If I was a plumber that had done a job for you, walked away with your money, but then you find that the CH...
Elkato531 - I'll check it today whilst the CH is cold to see if there is any air still left. Hope fully there shouldn't be.
Picasso - He was a plumber by trade and it was his job to make sure the CH was up and running before he left - Otherwise I'd not spend half a day and 5 pages of posts...
You guys are right - It was both the balancing and an air-lock. I forgot to mention that the bathroom radiator was cooler than the rest and out of curiousity, I decided to check if it had air and it did. So I definately think both things helped, so a big thank you to you all. Really...
Guys, ignore my previous post. Thanks to your help and devotion in helping me, my CH is now working great. I used my FLIR ONE thermal camera to check the temperature. The temperature does vary dependant on the radiator, but it ranges from 61C (Attic), to full 75C in some of the rooms.
The...
polesapart - Not sure if the title needs amending as it's still the job of a plumber to check and balance the system, but if it makes it easier to help others, then that's fine by me.
Okay I've followed dilalio's advice and so far:
The boiler is running, but it's really slow in bringing the...
Thanks dilalio - That's exactly what I needed and it's definitely much easier to do. Couple of things:
Before taking the TRV head off, do I need to set the TRV to maximum (value 5)?
Do I need to adjust the boiler as per wiki or shall I leave that alone for now?
Thanks for clarifying this guys.
I've had a look at the wiki. It looks quiet complex, especially Point.7 the boiler pump...not sure what to do.
The manual is here: https://www.vaillant.co.uk/downloads/aproducts/ecotec-pro/combi-2/24-28/ecotec-pro-24-28-installation-manual-1414773.pdf
Is...
Air lock might be possible, but I've just remembered something which I think might be important. When the boiler was originally installed a few years ago, the plumber told me that it was overpowering for 8-9 radiators. He said that he's adjusted some settings to reduce the KW or something...
OMG! You guys are amazing! (y) I've just followed your advise, i.e. closed the TRV's for all radiators, except the ones in the attic and they are now heating nicely! I assume from what you've told me, it's not an incorrect piping issue and I don't need to lift floorboards because it's actually...
Reg.Gasman - Air lock would mean knocking noise or there would be air coming out from radiators instead of water. I've bled them starting from closest to boiler downstairs and working towards the furtherest upstairs - no air or noise - just water.
dilalio - Yes - On cold it's just slightly...
Really sorry for replying again. I was about to call it a night, but curiosity got the better of me.
You said that I check whether the attic radiators get hot when I close the TRV valves. But what happens after that? what would I need to do depending on if they are cold, slightly hot or...
Brilliant! Thanks ever so much. I won't be able to do this right now due to little one being asleep and I can't enter the room. I'll start on this first thing in morning.
Speak tomorrow. Bye!
