    Sealing around extractor fan

Thanks everyone for your replies. Perhaps the attached BEFORE and AFTER photos will explain why I have made the ducting choices I have. I upgraded it from a 100mm bodge to a 150mm (or 22x90mm rectangle) duct. In short, I had to covert round to flat to fit through the joists in the loft. I used...

    Sealing around extractor fan

Hi everyone, I've tried to read as many past comments on this as possible, but am struggling to find a definite answer! Long story short I installed new ducting for a kitchen extractor fan. There is a small gap around the edges that needs to be filled to stop warm air getting into the loft...

Hi! Looking to purchase a house an spotted cracks on the bay windows 1st floor only. Think the windows were changed in 2007, house was built 1950's I believe. Seen quite a few threads about this being common with UPVC, but just after some second opinions on whether this is considered serious...

    Masonry Paint: What to use?

I want to make sure that I'm putting the best product possible on. Unsure what previous owners used so am taking as much off as I can before re-painting. Emperor seems to have excellent breathability so was going to choose that, on the pretense that it's better than standard acrylic-bases...

    Painted Brickwork - Dealbreaker?

Thank you. That was my fear. If we do buy the property my thinking was to strip as much as the old paint off, and re-paint with Emperor water repellent breathable paint. Unfortunately the other houses on the road are all painted so it can't be the odd one out and bare.

    Painted Brickwork - Dealbreaker?

It's cavity wall if that helps? Thank you for your advice/thoughts! Definitely peeling off

    Painted Brickwork - Dealbreaker?

Thank you for your response! In terms of stripping it, it would be with a view to repaint it with breathable masonry paint and repoint the brickwork if needed. But the more I look into it the more it seems this would be a huge cost! Thanks again for your thoughts

    Painted Brickwork - Dealbreaker?

Of course, but a decent survey is good money and I'd rather guage as many issues now before employing a surveyor. It's a big and scary decision so am questioning a lot! But no I would not turn down a house due to wallpaper, but I might turn one down if external paint has damaged the bricks and...

    Painted Brickwork - Dealbreaker?

All houses on this road are the same! Presume it was built like this. Would you avoid?
