Hi,
So we have been doing lots of work on own house which has meant draining the system several times. So many times I'm quite well practiced and have had no issues up until now.
Suddenly when my heating is now turned on, the boiler is making a humming, almost churning like noise. Any ideas...
Well that explains how I went wrong. Will take a look tonight after work and see if I can decommission that wiring.
Not a clue how I'm going to get a wire from the nest to the thermostat but that's another issue all together. Fun times
Thanks.
Big problem I have is that I cant trace those cables back to the boiler end. Could they possibly enter the boiler first and then into the junction box for the nest?
4 cables enter that junction box at the boiler.
I'm assuming two are the ring main, one for boiler power (switched)...
So find attached all pics.
Nest is wired as per Stems earlier thread and all working a treat. I have also included a photo of the junction box and wires directly behind the nest.
When I heating only is switched on then the wires from the old thermostat go live. Pic with grey/blue wall.
Hi, so a bit of a follow up request for help.
This has all been working perfectly but I have decided I want to stick the thermostat on the wall rather than use the table stand.
When doing this I have found that the cables that went to the old thermostat still have a live supply going to it...
It's a valliant boiler.
The slider on the actuator does move when the hot water switches on.
Boiler can only set one temp for both hot water and rads.... 65 currently.
Attached a photo.
Cylinder is set to 60. No difference in performance if i change the length of time the boiler is on for.
Southampton.
We think maybe 10years tops..... Serviced Feb.
Hi
So recently moved into a new house (new for us not new build) and it's a totally different system to what we have had in past houses so trying to get to grips with it.
I know it's a gravity fed system with a system boiler (not combi). We have a large cold water tank in the loft with a...
So after reviewing my not so handy work it's working!
I miss placed one wire into nest 1.... Muppet.
Stem your instructions work perfectly and I have heating and hot water. Thanks so much for your advice.
Unfortunately that didn't work.
Boiler had power but when you turn up the nest thermostat the boiler turns off.... No heat.
Swapped terminals 1 and 3.
Boiler has power. Turn up the thermostat and you hear the switch but no heat.
I'm at a loss. Time to call someone in?
