I have a leak at the connection between 32mm waste and soil boss. It is a solvent joint. Whats the best way to tackle it? I have had to cut away the ceiling to access it.

Thanks for all the responses guys.. Spot on . It was a sludge cock like the one in the photo. A quarter turn and the water stopped draining allowing me to fill the cylinder and finally get hot water.
I presume the overflow comes from the tank in the loft. I have looked again at the outside. There are 2 pipes coming out. A plastic white one and a copper 15mm. It is the copper one that is leaking . When I turn in the flow to the cylinder . In the Cylinder tank cupboard There are 2 gate valves...
Thanks for your reply John. The water only comes out the pipe when the gate valve to the hot water cylinder is opened and water goes in to the cylinder ! I have tied the ballcock up so no more mains water is entering the header tank .
