    Leak in bay window

Thanks for this. I think i'm going to be outside of any claim period (think it expires after 10 years). Most other houses on the estate have a few weep holes running horizontally directly above the flashing. So presumably just a horizontal cavity tray? I can't see any with the stepped set up...

    Leak in bay window

If I was going down this route, I think Stormdry is the way to go? Water us existing at the front of the bay window (was seeping out between ceiling and window frame, before I drilled a few holes in the ceiling to at least direct the water to one location.

    Leak in bay window

Thanks. I've got someone coming out on Friday with a borescope. The best I can hope for is that we have cavity trays but nobody bothered putting the weep holes in. Had a look round some other bay windows on the estate, most have 3 or 4 weep holes going horizontally just above the flashing...

    Leak in bay window

Hi all. After some advice please. 12 year old house. A couple of weeks ago, in amongst all this horrendous rain, our bay window started leaking with water coming in from the ceiling (of the actual bay). I drilled a couple of holes to catch all the drips in a bucket. roofer #1 came out and...

    Warm plug and socket

Hi. We've got a double socket in the kitchen (this one - https://amzn.eu/d/aRSMzWm) When we've got our Ninja air fryer plugged in and running at full whack (2470w) I've noticed the plug itself, that side of the socket, and the cable get warm (certainly not red hot). Is this potentially an...

    Oven still tripping rcd?

Using the oven tonight. Tripped out again after 10 minutes. Flicked the breaker back on and it's happily been on for the last 5 minutes. Oven heating up fine and fan working. These intermittent faults are the hardest to diagnose!? @Harry Bloomfield

    Oven still tripping rcd?

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I had an electrician come out and sods law that the oven turned on, didn't trip and performed faultlessly for the 20 mins he was there. He couldn't see any obvious damage to any of the wiring and suggested it may have just been a bit of moisture on the new...

    Oven still tripping rcd?

Thanks all. Changing an element is one thing but further testing/fault finding is a bit beyond me and tinkering with something like an oven is probably not advised. Ive got an electrician coming over to look. Difficult one as fault finding/fixes might end up being more trouble/costly than just...

    Oven still tripping rcd?

It's definitely not the element. I simply turn the oven light on and it trips within a couple of seconds.

    Oven still tripping rcd?

Apologies. It's tripping the RCD. Just been back to the oven and turned the knob to turn the lamp on only (no heat) and that also tripped the RCD.

    Oven still tripping rcd?

Hi. Zanussi oven. 10 years old. Couple of months ago, main oven was blowing the fuse. Replaced the element and fixed it, no problem. 2 months on, main oven has been blowing fuse again. Strangely it had been taking 5/10 minutes of being on before it blew. In previous experiences a bad element...

    UPVC doors have dropped

Hi Last year I had some french doors installed. They are now catching the bottom of the frame. I've taken then cap off the hinges and tried adjusted with an allen key, however I'm already at the 'max' height and the only adjustment I can do is to drop the doors which obviously worsens the...

    cleaning water tank

Thanks. I'll look at sorting this tomorrow. Regarding treatment for the water, I know you can buy things to attach to pipes, but is there a product that you can pour into the tank, open all the hot taps and flush it all through? e.g. FERNOX DS-3 LIMESCALE Remover 2KG https://amzn.eu/d/crjGw0r...
